ABOUT THE ARTIST
Eric was born on the 1st day of summer in Norfolk County, Virginia and in the same year the U.S. Supreme Court settled the legendary Brown v Board of Education epic court case. Although his childhood was characterized by great turbulence in U.S. history Eric had an unrelenting appreciation for his rural roots and the many spectacular views of the coastal plains which inspired many of his earlier works. Eric's earlier works of "rural Americana" featured old barns, wagons, and various agricultural implements, in picturesque country settings his earlier works also included various beachside settings, and waterways, coupled with stylish sailboats and other recreational water vessels.
Eric began his artistic career in high school during his senior year working as a sketch artist accentuating certain landscape designs for local area architectural firms. While pursuing electrical engineering in college, Eric's artistic skills continued to evolve from drawing with different pencils and charcoal sticks to pastel chalks to pen and inks and finally to various paints including water, acrylic, alkyds, and oils.
Subsequent to his college days Eric pursued dual careers in art and in engineering. As an engineer Eric designed color televisions for General Electric as well as Magnavox. He was one of the initial pioneers in the development of the first big-screen televisions available on the consumer market. Eric also worked as a defense contractor in conjunction with the United States Department of Defense in developing as well as improving certain surveillance devices used by the U.S. Department of Navy. The devices were used to track hostile submarines and other intelligence seeking probes prowling off the shores of U.S. territorial waters. Eric also worked as a development engineer for the aerospace division of Eaton Corporation where he designed and developed microchips, logic controlled multi-switching sensors, and other control systems primarily used in aircraft cockpits as well as commercial controls used in off road heavy equipment for forestry.
While working for these companies within their respective localities Eric created a vast collection of fine artwork and hosted one-man art shows. Many of those works expressed ideas reflecting his scientific background; however, most of his artwork has truly echoed his personal experiences as well as geographical locations he's traveled. Some of the subjects Eric undertook in his artistic career include landscapes, seascapes, boats and sailing ships, rural settings, still life, insects, animals, astrophysics, ethnic art, portraits, and etc. All the different art subjects coupled with the various mediums used by Eric is a small extension of his skills as an artist. Since he places no limitations on the methodology required to render his artwork Eric desires everyone to know that the passion he feels for his art is no ordinary love rather it embodies the very rudiments of his soul.
