Twilight Z at the Old Mabry Mill – This watermill is located at milepost 176.2 of the Blue Ridge Parkway in Floyd County, Virginia. Mabry Mill was constructed in 1903 and was first a blacksmith and wheelwright shop, then became a sawmill. By 1905 it was in operation as a gristmill. By 1910 the front part of the mill was completed and included a lathe for turning out wheel hubs, and also used as a tongue and groove lathe, as well as a planer and a jig-saw. Eric created this art piece because of it character, historicity, and nostalgic fervor, but if you closely examine the details, the image shall reveal hidden pictorial elements that require careful scrutiny before they’re recognizable thus being presentable as another fine conversation piece.
